Why Industry Standards Matter in Safety and Signage
Why Industry Standards Matter in Safety and Signage
At Shur-Tite, we don’t just follow industry standards—we help define them.
Whether we’re at FenceTech, World of Concrete, or prepping for the next big show, one thing is clear: the industry is evolving fast, and staying ahead means knowing what “standard” really looks like.
So, What Do We Mean by Industry Standards?
Yes, specs and certifications are important but how about understanding what customers expect, what facilities demand, and what safety requires. From delineators that prevent accidents to protecting pedestrians, we’ve seen firsthand how the right product—built to the right standard—can make all the difference. One of the most used and important certifications is the M.A.S.H Crash Certification which certifies a product to be safe up to specified speeds. Some of the other important certifications that we have acquired over the years are MUTCD, which is used for certifications involving specific traffic control devices on streets and roadways. The other certification that we use is AASHTO certified which is used for setting standards that are set up for highway design and construction.
Why Standards Matter
When we talk to facility managers, contractors, and engineers at trade shows, one theme keeps coming up: reliability
Standards are the backbone of that reliability. They ensure that when someone installs a speed bump or a parking block, it performs exactly as expected—no surprises, no compromises.
And it’s not just about performance. It’s about consistency, ease of installation, and long-term durability. That’s why we design our products to meet or exceed the benchmarks set by the industries we serve.
Learning from the Field
Every trade show we attend is a chance to listen and learn. We hear what’s working, what’s not, and what’s next. At World of Concrete, we saw innovations in materials that are reshaping how facilities think about protection. At FenceTech, we talked with pros who are pushing for smarter, more adaptable solutions. At each exhibition, we learned from our customers, what matters most.
These conversations help us refine our own standards—because the best benchmarks come from the field, not just the factory.
Customer-Centered Innovation
At Shur-Tite, we believe that the best innovations start with listening. Our product development isn’t just driven by specs—it’s shaped by the real-world challenges our customers face every day. Whether it’s a contractor needing faster installation times or a facility manager looking for longer-lasting materials, we take those insights and turn them into smarter, safer solutions. That’s why our products don’t just meet standards—they meet needs.
Beyond Compliance: Building Trust
Meeting industry standards is the baseline. Exceeding them is how we build trust. Every Shur-Tite product reflects our commitment to safety, durability, and performance. We know that when our customers choose us, they’re putting their reputation on the line. That’s why we go beyond compliance—to deliver peace of mind, every time. Because in the world of safety and signage, trust isn’t optional. It’s everything.
Looking Ahead
As we gear up for the next round of shows, we’re bringing more than just products, we’re bringing perspective and safety. We’re committed to helping our customers navigate the evolving landscape of facility protection with confidence, clarity, and a little bit of grit.
Because at the end of the day, industry standards aren’t just rules—they’re promises. And that’s why our products are Built For The Road.
